The objectives of the East Van Workers Assembly are to:

Organize and unite workers across all industries.
Develop working class consciousness.
Struggle to expand and democratize the workers movement.
Unite the economic struggles of workers in the union movement with a revolutionary political vision.

What do members of the East Van Workers Assembly do?

Agitate workers to raise class consciousness through direct contact organizing.
Organize workers into the East Van Workers Assembly and encourage workers to organize in their workplaces.
Mobilize workers to class struggle by:
- Joining the picket lines of striking workers;
- Leading actions of workers against monopoly capitalists;
- Launching fighting economic and political campaigns.

What is the political vision of the East Van Workers Assembly?

In January 2024, the East Van Workers Assembly launched an ambitious campaign to build the workers platform, in order to develop the political unity of the East Van Workers Assembly. It was developed through a democratic process of discussion and debate within the EVWA. The completed workers platform is a series of political positions to guide the workers movement. We understand these positions as representing the intermediate and long term interests of working class people in Canada. Through our campaigns and political struggle – we strive to advance step-by-step towards the achievement of these objectives.

Public ownership of the means of production.
Worker control over production.
Progressive national industrialization.
Production to serve human need and ecological sustainability.
Eliminate anti-worker and anti-union legislation.
Advance workers rights and welfare.
Democratize the workers movement.
Unions out of mainstream political parties.
Unions take up a working class political program such as the workers platform.
